About Team Based Volunteers

Ask your team's coach if you are interested in volunteering as one of the below:

The OCYFL relies on parents and community members as an all volunteer run organization. Everyone from the President to the newest board member, all coaches, and all team based volunteers give their time for free to promote the sports of football and cheer. See below for the position descriptions to see if you are interested or apply by clicking the button above.

Head Coach

This person is the main volunteer responsible for the team. They are responsible for, with assistance, scheduling practices, fostering team relationships, coordinating coaches, parents and other volunteers, coaching the correct techniques and planning , and are solely responsible for ensuring team duties are met (concessions, chains, etc.). They are also the first point of contact for any incident with the team.

Assistant Coach

Depending on the type of season, the OCYFL allows head coaches to bring on a certain number of assistant coaches. These assistant coaches are to aide the head coach in the instruction of skills to the athletes. They are generally not given large, team-wide responsibilities, but are an intrical part of a football or cheer team and are usually responsible for a certain subgroup of athletes (defensive coordinator, line coach, etc.). They usually bring knowledge and follow the lead of the head coach in decision making.

Team Representative

This person will act as the "right hand man (or woman)" to the head coach to ensure scheduling and logistics are in order. A head coach has enough to worry about-- the team representative should assist in scheduling practices in SportsEngine, updating roster numbers and photos in SportsEngine, coordinating team events, assisting with administrative tasks at practices, coordinating volunteers (required concessions duty and home team chain crew), planning events such as the banquet, coordinating snacks and drinks, being a contact point for communication for the parents of the team, and much more.
